VLF / DC Hipots

Tan Delta Cable Diagnostics

The Tan Delta (TD) series of diagnostic test instruments was developed to help cable engineers evaluate the condition of their MV and HV cables. Tan Delta (TD), or Dissipation Factor, is an excellent diagnostic tool to evaluate both aged and new cables systems, particularly when evidence of moisture ingress into the cable is concerned.

Partial Discharge Detection

What was once thought to be unachievable a mere twenty years ago, on-site Partial Discharge (PD) diagnostics in the field has developed significantly over the past decade. Partial Discharge detection used to be consigned to special test bays in factory and laboratory environments.

Dieletric Oil Testing

Electrical insulation oils form the critical insulation medium for many of today’s electrical apparatus, such as transformers, tap-changers, circuit breakers, cables, bucket trucks etc. When this critical insulation system becomes contaminated or degraded over time, the dielectric properties can be adversely affected causing a potential breakdown or flashover, often resulting in catastrophic consequences.

Cable ID & Phasing

Ever since electrical cables have been used to distribute electricity, electrical utilities have been faced with the potentially dangerous task of having to safely identify (ID) a cable, either at its ends or somewhere along its length. The EZ-Cable ID® allows electrical testing personnel to accurately and effectively identify either one, two or three cables or cores anywhere along the length of the cable in one identification process.

Fault Location Devices

Cable faults can occur in a variety of ways during the lifecycle of cable. They can occur when new, during commissioning of the cables or initial energization, or many years after the cables have been put into service. The types of faults can also vary considerably, from dead shorts (also sometimes called “bolted faults”) to a cable that has catastrophically faulted and completely blown open.
